Player Evaluations - 2018 Spring Season
The following information covers the schedule and process for upcoming player evaluations.

All players in the 8U through 12U/14U age divisions must attend a player evaluation at Krusi Fields on January 14th or makeup date of January 17th (weather permitting and if needed due to weather, our back up date is January 21). The evaluation schedules are shown below.  We will hold an equipment swap during the evaluations.  Bring your gently used equipment to swap or give to another player.  Please refer to the date and time for your player's division - see the FAQs for questions:

All players attending evaluations should arrive 30 minutes early to check in and warm up with a parent or other player. Players should wear athletic clothing and cleats (please no Blaze gear), and bring their softball gear.  If your player is not registered yet, you must register her online by 6pm the night prior to evaluations (January 13, 2018) -- we will not be registering players at evaluations.  Please assume that evaluations will proceed as planned unless you hear otherwise. We will assess the fields each day. Make sure to check your email before heading out.

6U: 6U players (this would be for any player with a birth year after 2010) do not attend the evaluations unless they want to “try out” for 8U. To try out for 8U, you need to have registered in advance based on your child’s birth date and inform AGSA of your intent when you check in at the table. See above for the 8U evaluation time.

8U: Pitching evaluations will be following the drills – we encourage any girl interested in pitching to evaluate as we are and it's OK if she doesn't know how. Yes, coaches will be looking for girls who can already pitch, but they're also looking to see who they might be able to develop into pitchers. AGSA will offer pre-season pitching clinics and are looking at additional clinics during the season, and we want to develop as many pitchers as we can.

10U & 12U/14U: If your daughter wants to play catcher and has her own catcher's gear, please bring it with you. Pitchers and catchers will have separate evaluations following the other drills.  If your player is not evaluating for pitching or catching she can leave when the other drills are complete.  We encourage any girl interested in pitching or catching to evaluate as we are and it's OK if she doesn't know how. Coaches will be looking for girls who can already pitch and catch, but they're also looking to see who they might be able to develop into pitchers and catchers. AGSA will offer pre-season pitching and catching clinics and are looking at additional clinics during the season, and we want to develop as many pitchers and catchers as we can.

Playing up: If your daughter is trying out for an older age group she must attend an evaluation for the older age group and an evaluation for her registered age group unless otherwise approved by the AGSA Board of Directors prior to evaluations. Whether a player can move up depends on if she is drafted by a coach in that age group and dependent on the number of players in the division and the size of the teams if it does not impact numbers one way or the other. If there's and issue with division numbers, or she doesn't get drafted, she will stay in her registered age group.
