The Smart Phone and Photo Blue Jays 6U team played the very enthusiastic Red Ladybugs team.
The Blue Jays showed off their hitting skills which improved greatly this year thanks to the coaches! Daryl Patrick smoked three singles, Rowan Esquer bashed a line drive to left field, and Hailey Hayes ripped a shot to center. Audrey Wismar lined a ball to the right side of the field as did Annika Stenstedt. Switch hitter Julianne McKenna smacked ground balls to both sides of the infield, and Rosie Saxton tore up the bases in each inning. Thanks coaches for another great year!

AGSA 8U Playoffs
Tomatina’s Green Dragons 9, Red Hot Jalapenos 4
The Green Dragons were on an offensive drive all night with solid base hits from everyone on the team. Ruby Siltanen started things off with first RBI of the night. Margaret Pendo hit a triple at the top of the 3rd for 3 RBIs. On defense, Allison Cvitanovic and Ruby Siltanen were pitching strikes. Alanna Norman set the defensive tone when she caught a fly ball making the first out of the night for the Green Dragons. Ella Duchesneau continued on with an unassisted out at 2nd. Elizabeth Legg finished off the game with a stop in left field and a well placed throw to 3rd.
China House - Golden Dragons 0 Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 4
Ginny Woodworth, Edyn Garvish and Mira Piamonte combined efforts to throw a shutout for The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets in the first round of AGSA playoff action. Piamonte broke the game open with her bat in the second on a 2 RBI triple and there was no looking back for the gold and black. Elizabeth Fraiser had two hits for the Hornets and Audrey SooHoo had two hits for the Dragons.
AGSA 8U Championship
Tomatina - Green Dragons 2 Gallagher & Lindsey - Homerun Hornets 4
The championship atmosphere was thick as the Green Dragons and Homerun Hornets squared off in the title tilt. The gold and black broke through first as Julia Mendelsohn scored on a big single off the bat of Sam Schaffer. The Hornets would tally 3 more times in the inning on hits from Toby Walecka and Mikayla Wong. The Dragons threatened in the 4th plating 2 on a sharp single by Casey Chen. With the tying run now on first, Mira Piamonte would record her 4th strikeout of the game to put the 2008 8U Championship in the bank.

AGSA 10U Playoffs
Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 6, Green Dragons 6
Kelly Desmond struck out three batters, doubled, walked twice, and stole two bases. Explosive hitter Mikenna Womack tore up the bases with four steals, while Sarah Charney added a steal of her own. Abigail Keep and Rileigh Long played solid defense for the Jays, while showing off their patient hitting skills. Julia Landreth smacked a hard shot in the third inning and kept the Jays spirits up!
Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 13- Cycle Sport Peddle Pushers 6
The Golden Bats stepped up their game in the 2008 AGSA playoffs. In the first round on June 4th they faced the Peddle Pushers. The Bats took an early lead off of a Grand Slam Home Run by Dominique Shaver. The Pedal Pusher's rallied back in the 4th and 5th innings but it wasn't enough to beat the Bats. Migelle Miranda drove in 2 runs, and Tabitha Zaragoza drove in 1 run both on singles to keep the Bats in the lead. Grace Oransky and Alanna Reyes led the bats from the mound pitching 10 strikeouts.
Alameda Beauty CollegeGolden Bats 4- Black Eyed Peas 3
The Golden Bats faced a tough Black Eyed Peas team in the semi-final game of the AGSA playoffs. The Peas scored first recording 3 runs in the first inning. The Bats came alive in the 3rd inning with a home run by Grace Oransky, a triple by Kiara Proctor, A double by Gabriella Navarro and a single by Tabitha Zaragoza. The Peas loaded the bases in the bottom of the 5th inning and it looked like they were going to win the game but Grace Oransky was a rock on the mound and pitched a final strikeout to seal the win. It was an exhilarating game for the Bats.
AGSA 8U Championship
Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 14 Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 6
The Blue Jays struck early with a monster triple from Lisa Bertholdt that cleared the bases. Kennedy Hanson drilled a double later as did Julia Boyden. Speedy Hailey McKenna collected four stolen bases, and scored twice. Finally, Dottie Stoltz Award winner Vivienne Saulovich pitched two impressive scoreless innings, struck out several hitters and extended her playoff record to five scoreless innings pitched with over ten strike outs. Congratulations to the Blue Jays and their coaches.
The AGSA Championship Game was an excellent contest between the Blue Jays and Golden Bats. The Blue Jays proved to be a formidable team for the Golden Bats. The Bats played hard and did their best to stay with the Blue Jays. Gabriella Navarro and Dominique Shaver led the team in hitting with an RBI for Gabby and two for Dominique. Sasita Knauer and Tabitha Zaragoza helped the Bats by getting on base with a single each followed by steals to put themselves in scoring position.

China House Golden Dragons 2 vs. Oakland Orange Crush 1
The China House Golden Dragons carried the game Saturday. J.T. Thorpe pitched a series of strike outs. "All Star" Audrey Soohoo hit a power single that brought Claire Tajima home. Rosalyn Luque made a super hit and pitched. Tabby Compton hit a single line drive to left field and then stole second. As shortstop, she scooped up the ball and hotpotatoed it over to Kiley Carter at second. Alex "The Great" Martinez, guarded second base well, and got a nice hit in. It was cold on Saturday, but the Dragons were hot!
Mahler Law Office Big Bad Bluebirds 5 - Piedmont Dragons 1
The visiting Bluebirds notched a well-executed victory against the Piedmont Dragons. Janae Indalecio drove in the first run with a bases loaded single at the top of the 1st. Overall she had 2 hits and 2 RBIs in the game. Defensively, there were a number of great plays including: P Andi Wiley fielding a ground ball and tagging a runner out herself at the bottom of the 1st, 1B Sarah Mahler turned a similar play herself, Sarah played SS during the bottom of the 2nd and made a fantastic catch of a fly ball. Both Jenna Ingram and Mariella DeLeon had strong pitching and defensive games.
Tomatina’s Green Dragons 7, Red Hot Jalapenos 6
The girls had it together for the end of the season. Three innings of solid base hits from everyone, on both sides, made for an exciting game. On defense, Chiara Stiger made her debut pitching and fired a ball to Margaret Pendo at 1st stopping a 1st first inning rally by the Jalapenos. Lily Wilmot made 3 unassisted outs at 1st to stop the Jalapenos at the bottom of the 2nd inning.
Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapenos 6 vs. Green Dragons 7
The Red Hot Jalapenos and Green Dragons played an exciting game with terrific defensive plays and solid hitting by each team. For the Jalapenos, Allison Cho made a great stop and toss to Avery Hahlweg at 2nd base, keeping the Dragons scoreless in the 1st inning. Emani Vaughn smacked a double in the bottom of the 1st to score two runs. Carmen Tijerina, Viktoria Gilbert and Rachel Hungerford had strong outings at pitcher.

Black Eyed Peas 13, Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 9
The Golden Bats did their best to stay with the Black Eyed Peas in an exciting game last Saturday. The Bats recorded 7 hits and played a tough game in the field. Tabitha Zaragoza threw out two runners from the plate keeping the lead runners from moving into scoring postition. She was helped on each play by Sasita Knauer at 3rd base and Dominique Shaver at 2nd base. Tabitha also recorded 2RBI's on a hit late in the game. Other big plays included an incredible throw by Migelle Navarro from right field to get the lead runner out at 3rd base and a nice catch of a fly ball by Kiara Proctor.

La Estrellita Hot Tamales 14, Oakland Icy Crush 17
With the 2008 season drawing to a close, the Alameda 12U La Estrellita Hot Tamales faced the Oakland Icy Crush one last time. Although several key Tamales were unable to play, the others stepped up to the challenge. Rookie Regina Moore had a breakout day, hitting, stealing bases, stealing home, and knocking in 3 runs. Emma Fraser stole her way around the bases, and stole home, 3 separate times. Stand-in pitcher Sophia Macias had a 1-2-3 inning, including 2 strikeouts, and also scored twice. But in the last inning, despite a 5-run Tamales rally to bring the score within 3, the Icy Crush cooled off the Tamales hot bats and won: 17-14.

McDonalds Shamrocks 11, Oakland Flames 6
Another decisive Shamrocks victory in their season finale gave them a 9-2 record and the league Championship. Keilani Finley-Jensen had two hits and five RBI, including a bases loaded triple. Hannah Johnson also belted two hits. Kelly Hosokawa was almost untouchable, striking out 12 batters in 5 innings. Elizabeth Ahrens snuffed out the Flames best rally, starting a bases loaded double play. Alex Hartwell sealed the victory with a slick running catch in right field.
Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas 8, Piedmont 12
The Ninjas had two triples and three doubles out of their nine hits but came up short against Piedmont. Gianna Ratto pitched the first two innings, had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Angie DiDonato had a big hit and an RBI. Anne Avellar had a double against the fence and an RBI. Sydney Lewis had two hits and a run scored. Jessica Ravetti had a double, a triple, and two runs scored.

China House Golden Dragons 6, Mahler Law Firm Blue Birds 3
The China House Golden Dragons reached a new level of softball skills and teamwork in their victory against the Mahler Law Firm Blue Birds Saturday morning. J.T. Thorpe's consistent pitching discouraged hits. Tabby Compton, Alex Martinez, and Rosalyn Luque stopped hits from going past the infield. Runs were made by JT, Chantel Zavala, Audrey Soohoo, Rosalyn, and Jenna Long. Audrey capped the game with a stunning catch of a powerful line shot to first. Goooo Goooolden Dragons! 6-3
Tomatina’s Green Dragons 6, Piedmont Purple Dragons 4
Dragons everywhere – oh my! Tomatina’s Green Dragons were in the groove Saturday keeping the Purple Dragons scoreless until the last inning. Chiara Stiger started out the scoring for the Green Dragons with a fly to right field resulting in the first RBI of the day. Elizabeth Legg connected with the ball in the 3rd inning for an RBI then scoring herself. On defense, Ella Duchesneau debuted as pitcher for the 4th inning. Margaret Pendo showed some fine fielding with an unassisted out at 3rd.
Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapenos 6, Homerun Hornets 3
The Jalapenos played an exciting game against the Hornets, with both teams displaying impressive offensive and defensive skills. In the 2nd inning, Kimble Helms made a great tag at 2nd, which held the Hornets to three runs. Rachel Hungerford sparked a four-run rally in the 3rd with a single, and was sent home on a double by Rachel Wellman. Emily Matcham drove in a run, and Allison Cho had two hits and drove in two runs for the Jalapenos.

Green Dragons 7, Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 0
The Golden Bats did their best to hold off the Green Dragons with solid pitching on Saturday at Krusi Field. Dominique Shaver, Kiara Proctor and Alanna Reyes threw 14 strikeouts in their shared duties on the mound. The Dragons were led by Caroline Liu who pitched 9 of the teamʼs 12 strikeouts and hit a big triple in the first inning driving in the Dragonʼs first run. The Bats created opportunities to score with their quick base running but werenʼt able to capitalize on them.
Danish Interiors Black Eyed Peas 9 Cycle Sports Pedal Pushers 5
Another rough one for the Pedal Pushers. Highlights of the game came from several players. Samantha Hugger gave up only one run in the two inning, pitching out of a bases loaded jam in the 4th. Alexis Jimenez had an awesome all around game. She started the four run 2nd inning rally with a double to center field. Alexis continued her great play on the field catching three pop flies and two force outs at second base with lasers from right center. Annie Kelly and Esther McCarthy kept their multiple game hitting streaks alive at four and five respectively
Fred's Retirement Acres Old Fogies 7, Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 12
The Blue Jays had an 11-run inning to beat the Old Fogies, who came out of retirement for the occassion. Slugger Abigail Keep said it was like taking batting practice from her dad. Rileigh Long continued her on-base streak despite the catcher's heckling. Lisa Bertholdt held back the Fogies with solid pitching, and catcher Kennedy Hanson was like glue. Except for their pride, the Fogies escaped with no injuries.
The McDonald's Green Dragons swung it Saturday morning against the Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats. Caroline Liu and Anekaila Crevani stood out with their accurate pitching. Meida Tautalasi stole 2nd with an impressive slide, followed by a steal to third. Carson Mulholland protected 3rd base and hit a power double that brought Rachel Dean in for the run. Emilie Watten, Nora Kettles, Rachel, Carson, Meida, and Caroline crossed home plate with victorious runs. We are proud of you! 6-1

Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas 14, McDonalds Shoreline Shamrocks 21
The Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas 14 McDonalds Shoreline Shamrocks 21 The Ninjas had 19 hits but couldn’t overcome 11 walks issued to Shamrocks hitters, 5 errors, and the Shamrocks timely hitting, to fall to the Shamrocks. The Shamrocks came from behind by scoring 15 runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Sydney Lewis, Erika Boeckling, Jessica Ravetti, and Carrie Lee went a perfect ten for ten. Dani Taylor also had two hits for the Ninjas.

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapenos 6-Mahler Law Office Big Bad Bluebirds 3
The Big Bad Bluebirds rallied in the bottom of the 4th inning to keep the game close, but ultimately they fell to the Red Hot Jalapenos. The Bluebirds had a number of highlights in this tough game including Camille Deatherage pitching strongly and throwing two strike outs. Additionally Alexandra Hearn and Emma Pixton both had a few great stops to prevent extra bases. In the top of the 4th, Emma also cleanly fielded a ground ball and alertly stepped on 2B for a force out. Her sister Eliza drove in 2 RBIs in the bottom of the 4th with bases loaded single.
China House Golden Dragons 4, Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 5
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets took an early lead in the contest on a powerful RBI triple by Edyn Garvisch in the first. The Hornets then posted 2 in the second and one more in the third on good hitting from Sam Shaffer. The Dragons came back to tie it up in the fourth as Meagan Riordan lead the offensive explosion. But the Hornets fought back to take this one in a walkoff as Mira Piamonte singled in the winning run.
Tomatina’s Green Dragons 1, San Lorenzo’s Red Hot Chili Peppers 7
Tomatina’s Green Dragons played a tough game against San Lonrenzo’s Red Hot Chili Peppers on Saturday. The Dragons were swinging with solid base hits from Ianna Morris and Hadley Kelin. Casey Chen scored the sole run for the Green Dragons. On defense, Hadley Kelin, Alanna Norman and Ruby Siltanen were stopping them at 1st.
Red Hot Jalapenos 6, Bluebirds 3
The Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Jalapenos built a 6 - 0 lead but had to hold on against a strong Bluebird comeback in the last inning. Starting pitcher Allison Cho held the Bluebird scoreless in the first. She also contributed a base hit to fuel a two-run rally in the fourth. Madison O'Connor and Lily Walovich also pitched scoreless innings, and delivered base hits to drive in runs. Rachel Wellman and Eileen Rhatigan sparked the offense with a total of five hits and four runs.

Danish Interiors’ Black Eyed Peas 6 v. Green Dragons 4
Shannon Regan pitched the first inning and struck two batters out. The third out came with great fielding by Olivia Murillo, who tracked the ball down for the putout by the first baseman, Jordan Murillo. Olivia’s great play continued into the bottom of the first inning, when her line drive to the outfield scored two runners, Shannon Regan and Isabella Deatherage. Isabella had the hit of the day when she tripled in the next inning and scored Kendall Atkinson and Samantha Dunn.
Shannon took the mound for the fifth inning to hold off the Sea Dragons by striking out three of the four batters she faced.
Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 19, Piedmont Fabboons 8
The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 10U racked up a 19 to 8 victory against the Piedmont Fabboons. Speedy Julia Landreth stole two bases. Catchers Hailey McKenna and Mikenna Womack threw out two runners that attempted to score. Julia Boyden threw to Womack for the force at the plate. Womack, playing first, threw a bullet to McKenna who tagged the runner and ended the game. Pitcher Vivienne Saulovich anchored the Jays with four strike outs.
Cycle Sports Pedal Pushers 4 Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 20
The Pedal Pushers were a little down this past Saturday, however they did have some nice offensive plays. Esther McCarty continued her 4 game hitting streak with a solid single up the middle. Sarah Beilman then proceeded to rock a single to left adding two more RBI's to her total. In the 2nd inning Dalia Quezada hit a rocket double into left center. In the 4th inning Corina Salazar worked a full count into a walk and proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd (all the while keeping her trademark smile on her face.) giving Annie Kelly another RBI opportunity.
Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 20- CycleSports Peddle Pushers 4
The Golden Bats recorded their 3rd win of the season on Saturday with a complete team performance. The Bats fielded well preventing runs by getting outs when they needed them. Gabriella Navarro made a nice throw to first base in the first inning to record the 3rd out. The Bats were led in hitting by Grace Oransky, Tabitha Zaragoza and Skylare Perez. All three drove in runs to keep the Bats ahead of the Peddle Pushers. Strong pitching also helped the Bats seal the win.

Alameda Thunderbolts 7, Piedmont Dino Stars 12
Piedmont power hitting made the difference in a hard fought Thunderbolt loss this weekend. The Thunderbolts were able to plate 7 over 6 innings led by RBIs from Dominique Barrs and Bernie Steele. However, despite strong outfield play by Mariko Stenstedt and Dani McEachern, the Thunderbolts were unable stop the Piedmont bats from connecting for 12 runs.

Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas 11 Albany-Berkeley Phantoms 4
The Ninjas had 13 hits as they continued their torrid hitting streak. Vanessa Ambrosini
led the way with three for three day. Katrina Dizon, Elena Kjellund Duke, and Danielle Taylor all contributed key two-out hits keeping rallies alive by knocking in runs. In the fifth inning Hannah Klein, playing second base, covered first to take a throw for the first out and got the second out when she moved to her left to field a hard hit ball.

Red Hot Jalapenos 1, Golden Dragons 4
The Golden Dragons met the Red Hot Jalapenos once again. Kiley Carter and Olivia Reising made their debut as pitcher in Inning 1 and 2, respectively. Golden Dragons scored runs by Meagan Riordan, Jemma Thorpe, Rosalyn Luque and Alex Martinez in Inning 2. Kirstin Sullivan closed the game and held the Jalapenos to 1 run for a score of 4-1. The Jalapenos made a double play on a pop fly and had strong pitching.
The Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapeños started strong against the tough Golden Dragons offense, scoring one run off the bat of Helen Montell-Weiland. Kimble Helms and Emani Vaughn both got hits. Marisa Wood and Eileen Rhatigan both had a great day on the mound. Marisa made a double play in the bottom of the 2nd, catching the ball and tagging the runner at third. In the final inning, Eileen struck out two batters and caught a pop-up for the final out.
Piedmont – Purple Dolphins 6, Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 6
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets played to a draw with the Dolphins in this tightly contested battle. The Hornets scored 4 in the second as Trina Eichel and Toby Walecka hit back to back doubles to spark a two out rally. Mikayla Wong had an RBI in the third with yet another 2 out double for the Hornets. Kennedy Miller also had 2 hits and an RBI for the black and gold.

Cycle sports Pedal Pushers 6 McDonald's Green Dragons 7
The Pedal Pushers had a fantastic defensive game this Saturday. Aerin Attias had an unassisted double play in the bottom of the first inning by catching a line drive and tagging out the runner at first. Samantha Hugger struck out the side in the bottom of the second. Sarah Beilman also had an unassisted double play by snagging a hot shot to short and tagging out the second base runner. The offensive play of the game went to Esther McCarthy for her third inning 3 RBI double.

Teranetics Thunderbolts 17, Oakland Icy Crush 5
The Teranetics Thunderbolts started off strong defensively in the top of the 1st, here Alison Ganci, Bernie Steele, and Alexis Konstantino combined for a 6-5-3 double play to get the team out of a one out jam with runners on second and third. Offense was equally productive, with Rachel Reising and Mia Loyola connecting for two hits a piece and Danielle McCarthy stealing 3 bases. The team collectively combined for a
season high 14 hits in a 17-5 win over the Oakland Icy Crush.

McDonald’s Shamrocks 12 vs. Piedmont 2
Michelle Popelka and Keilani Finley-Jensen each went a blistering 4-4 to lead the offensive juggernaut Shamrocks to another dominating victory. Natalie Ybarra also belted out two hits. Pitchers Hannah Johnson, Emily Cooper, and Kelly Hosokawa each kept the Piedmont batters handily at bay, while Darby Nordin and Emma Raglin drowned out any Piedmont hopes for a rally with strong throws from deep in the hole at shortstop and third base to nail runners at first.
McDonald's Shamrocks 13 vs. San Lorenzo Toxic Heartbreakers 3
The Shamrocks’ Lindsi Tu broke this game wide open with a bases-loaded double in the second inning, and the Shamrocks never looked back, winning big again. Keilani Finley-Jensen and Hannah Johnson each belted out two hits and Emma Raglin and Emily Cooper each had a hit and an RBI. Emily Cooper completely shut down the Toxic Heartbreakers offensive attack with 3 innings of shutout relief, striking out four, with no walks and only one hit.

Advance Health Chiropractic Red LadyBugs vs. the SMART Phone and Photo Blue Jays
The Red LadyBugs played their best game of the season on Saturday. All of the LadyBugs hit the ball very well including Kayla Reyna, Juliette Ingram and Olivia Lebo-Planas. Lucy Helms had a great defensive play. Vivi McKee and Tori Eichel did an excellent job of running the bases. The LadyBugs congratulated the Blue Jays after 3 full innings of play.
Advance Health Chiropractic Red LadyBugs vs. the Alta Alliance Bank Tigers
The Red LadyBugs played another terrific game Saturday filled with good hitting and defensive plays. Ariana Ayer-Winslow and Juliette Ingram both had solid hits. Samantha Van Ausdle continued her excellent defense with 3 big defensive stops. Audrey Wismar did a superb job of playing catcher in the 2nd inning. The LadyBugs were proud to host the Tigers and the teams gave each other high fives after the game.

Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapenos 10 Oakland Pink Panthers 4
The Jalapenos played excellent defense to secure their win. Marissa Wood threw strikes in her first time in the circle this year and contributed three hits and three runs batted in. Carmen Tijerina had a hit and played solid defense, stopping Panther baserunners by fielding a base hit and returning it quickly to the infield. Viktoria Gilbert stopped a Panther bid for a base hit and threw to Emani Vaughn at first to record the final out of the third inning. Tori Barfield hit the ball solidly twice and also made her season debut in the circle, holding the Panthers scoreless in her inning.

Alameda Bayside Specialty Construction vs. Black Eyed Peas
The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 10U team played a very tough Black Eyed Peas team from Alameda. Lisa Bertholdt smashed a double early in the game and hit a towering fly ball in the latter innings. Kelley Desmond continued her defensive brilliance with an unassisted double play and a put out at second. Mikenna Womack snagged a line drive and Sarah Charney played tough defense and showed a keen eye at the plate.
Alameda Pedal Pushers 3, San Lorenzo Raiderets 9
The Pedal Pushers started the game strong scoring three runs in the first inning. Samantha Hugger Started the game with a walk and wasted no time stealing 2nd and then 3rd base. Aerin Attias singled to Right field to get the games first RBI. Aerin also stole 2nd and 3rd base. On came Jackie Carlise who proceeded to lay down a text book bunt to bring in Aerin. Both Annie Kelly and Samantha Hugger struck out the side in back to back innings. Annie also had late inning heroics with a hot single to left field bringing in Sarah Beilman.
San Leandro Stingers 10, Alameda BeautyCollege Golden Bats 5
The Golden Bats lost to a tough team from San Leandro on Saturday. Claire Boyd-Meredith led the bats recording a base hit and a triple that brought in a run and helped the Bats keep the game close. Migelle Miranda also hit a single in the 3rd inning. The Stingers strong pitching kept them ahead, J. Thompson pitched 6 strikeouts and only 1 walk in her two innings on the mound, making it difficult for the Bats to score runs.

Teranetics Thunderbolts 9 La Estrellita Hot Tamales 8*
The Thunderbolts nudged out the Hot Tamales 9-8 in a hard fought game by
both teams. After Dominique Barrs pitched a scoreless third, the
Thunderbolts bats came alive in the bottom half of the inning with a
double by Bernie Steele tying up the game at 4. A ping pong match
ensued, with solid defense by Lawren Bartlett in left field, and
consistent pitching from Alexis Konstantino keeping the game close.
Tracy Clark had a key RBI in the game, and Caitlin Shener's walk off
base hit scored Dannielle McCarthy in the bottom of the 6th for an
exciting end to a well played game.
Alameda's La Estrellita 12U Hot Tamales gave it up to the Alameda 12U Thunderbolts in an exciting see-saw contest. Lexus Rawlyk made the Tamales' season's first double play, but Tamales couldn't capitalize on a hit by Jezonette Jackson. Gitte Shirrmacher extended an at-bat to enable Sophia Macias to steal home, and Emma Boeckling's great catch in left maintained a tie in the 4th inning. T-bolts took a one-run lead into the 6th but Tamales tied it back up. In the bottom of the 6th, the Tamales' terrific Tara Toy tidily turned two, throwing the potential winning run out at third after catching a long fly to left. But it was all for naught when a lightning-fast Thunderbolt scored on the next play. Thunderbolts 9, Tamales 8.

Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas 14 San Lorenzo Devil Heat 7
The Ninjas had 15 hits, including back-to-back triples by Maddy Gould and Jessica Ravetti and played flawless defense with two double plays in their victory against San Lorenzo. Anne Avella had a hit, two runs scored and started a double play with a great catch on a line drive to third. Sydney Lewis had a double and a run scored. Danielle Taylor had a hit and two runs scored.
McDonalds Shamrocks 7, Albany-Berkeley Possums 1
Dominant pitching by Emily Cooper and Kelly Hosokawa had the Possums playing dead. Hosokawa finished the sixth inning with a nifty double play on a line drive, and then struck out the side in the seventh. Elizabeth Ahrens anchored a flawless Shamrock defense, including a perfectly executed rotation on a nice Possum bunt. Michelle Popelka and Anastasia Scheichl each belted out two hits and Lindsi Tu added another hit to lead the offensive charge.

The Red LadyBugs played another terrific game Saturday filled with good hitting and defensive plays. Ariana Ayer-Winslow and Juliette Ingram both had solid hits. Samathatha Van Ausdle continued her excellent defense with 3 big defensive stops. Audrey Wismar did a superb job of playing catcher in the 2nd inning. The LadyBugs were proud to host the Tigers and the teams gave each other high fives after the game.

Tomatina’s Green Dragons fought a tough defensive battle against some hard hitting by the Red Hot Jalapenos. Casey Chen and Ruby Siltanen showed some nice fielding with good plays to 1st and April McCarver and Alanna Norman stopped them at 1st. In the 5th inning Josie Boyd was thinking on her feet when she tried for a double play after an unassisted out at 2nd.
Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapeños vs. Green Dragons
The Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapeños had solid hitting from all its players in a win over the strong Green Dragons. Emily Matcham and Lily Walovich went 3 for 3. Emily made good contact with the ball for a hit up the middle. Marisa Wood smacked a double to score two runs. Rachel Hungerford and Viktoria Gilbert both played strong at first base, with Viktoria making 2 of the final 3 outs of the game.
Mahler Law Office Big Bad Bluebirds 1, Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 4
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets overcame an early one run deficit hung on them by the Mahler Law Office Big Bad Bluebirds and held on to win this early morning nail bitter. The Bluebirds tallied in the first as Annika Crvarich scored on an RBI single by Beatrice Levy. The Hornets came through in the second as Sam Shaffer opened the inning with a double and later scored on an RBI single by Toby Walecka. Kennedy Miller drove in the fourth and final run of the inning with a sharp single to left. Mikayla Wong got the save closing out the game setting down all three batters she faced.
The rematch between the Bluebirds and Homerun Hornets proved to be well played game. The Bluebirds struck first when Beatrice Levy knocked in the team's only RBI with a single with 2 on. Annika Cvarich alertly ran home upon contact. P Jenna Ingram threw 2 shut out innings. Other highlights included a laser hit by Andi Wiley that would have turned into extra bases had it not been for quick fielding by the Hornets to hold her to a single. 2B Mariella DeLeon also had a strong defensive play in the bottom of the 4th when she quickly scooped up a ground ball and deftly tagged out the runner from 1st.

The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays battled back to tie the CycleSports Pedal Pushers. Julia Boyden pitched well and also hit one to the outfield for an RBI. Pitcher Kelley Desmond struck out five and caught a line drive for an out. Kennedy Hanson singled, doubled, and walked, plus had an unassisted put-out on defense. Rileigh Long scored the tying run in the fifth. Despite being injured, Vivienne Saulovich cheered on her teammates.
Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 6, Black Eyed Peas 3
The Golden Bats defeated the Black Eyed Peas for their second win. The bats were led on the mound by Kiara Proctor, Dominique Shaver and Grace Oransky. Kiara pitched two scoreless innings and kicked off the offense for the bats with a double and a single. Dominique also recorded two hits and three RBI's. The Peas rallied late in the game with solid pitching and hitting by Shannon Regan and hitting by Isabella Deatherage. Grace closed the game for the bats pitching two strikeouts to seal the win.

Alameda's 12U La Estrellita Café Hot Tamales got cooled off by the Oakland Icy Crush, in a game that was close until the very end. Tenacious defense by catcher Catalina Dalton keyed the early innings. The Hot Tamales burned up the basepaths with great stealing by Cassie Hill and Sophia Macias, taking the lead by the 3rd inning, but then great pitching by the Icys crushed the Tamales offense and they took a 1-run lead. Taylor Jabor worked an extended at-bat to enable Lexus Rawlyk to steal her way around the bases and manufacture the tying run, but a last-inning rally by the Crush squished the Tamales for good.

The Shamrocks played an all-around fantastic game, handily defeating the visiting Heartbreakers. The big hits of the day were homeruns belted by Michelle Popelka and Keilani Finley-Jensen, and a long triple by the speedy Darby Nordin. Natalie Ybarra and Alex Hartwell each made terrific running outfield catches in the third inning to snuff out any hopes of a Heartbreaker rally. Hannah Johnson was solid in two innings of pitching, striking out 3 with no walks.

Maddy Gould had two hits including a triple and Jessica Ravetti and Erika Boeckling each two hits including a double to lead the Ninja’s hitting. Danielle Taylor was on base twice as well. A big double play started by Angie DiDonato snagging a line drive and ending w/ Mia Musso throwing to home plate held the Shock to one run. Anne Avella two fine defensive plays, one at third base and one at second base.

while Olivia Lebo-Plans did an excellent job as catcher. All the LadyBugs scored 3 times.

Tomatina’s Green Dragons scored six runs at the top of the 5th to secure victory in a hard-fought game against the Golden Dragons. Lily Wilmot and Alanna Norman showed strong defense with a well executed play at 2nd. Casey Chen had a timely put out at 1st at the bottom of the 5th. On offense, Hadley Kelin sent a fly ball into center field for a double and 3 RBIs.
Jalapenos 13 Oakland Crushers 0
The Jalapenos enjoyed their biggest offensive show of the season against the Crushers. Allison Cho kept rallies alive with two hits. Helen Montel-Weiland had two solid hits and ran the bases aggressively. Tori Barfield and Carmen Tijerina drove in runs and Kimble Helms hit two balls to the outfield grass to drive in three runs. The Jalapenos won their
fourth game in a row.
OGSL Dragonflies 4, Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 11
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets showed well on their first road trip of the season taking on the Dragonflies of Oakland. Each team scored two in the first but the G&L Homerun Hornets broke through scoring four in the second and never looked back as Edyn Garvish delivered a 2 RBI triple to cap the inning. Christine Warren, 3 hits and 2 runs scored, and Mira Piamonte, 3 hits and 2 RBI, were keys to the 4 run fourth that followed and pushed the G&L Homerun Hornets over the top. Defense kept the G&L Homerun Hornets in control of this contest with excellent fielding from Trina Eichel and Toby Walecka shutting down the Oakland squad.

The Golden Bats lost a close game to the Purple Peppers on a hot day in Piedmont. The Bats dominated in hitting but were challenged in the field. They were led by Dominique Shaver who went 3 for 3, with a triple and two singles as well as pitching two strong innings. Also getting a hit at each at bat was Claire Boyd-Meredith. The Bats kept the game close and had a chance to come back in the 5th inning but weren't able to bring in enough runners for the win.
Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays (15) vs. McDonalds Green Dragons (7)
The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays were victorious against the tough McDonald's Green Dragons on Saturday. Abigail Keep led the offense with a monster base hit in the third inning, and Hailey McKenna and Julia Landreth both crossed the plate three times. On defense, Mikenna Womack had a strong pitching debut and Sarah Charney did a great job at third base.

The Shamrocks used solid defense and clutch hitting to down the Ninjas. Third baseman Emma Raglin was flawless in 6 opportunities. Anastasia Scheichl was the hitting star with two hits and two RBIs. Natalie Ybarra picked up her first hit of the season.

The Red LadyBugs played another fun game this week at Krusi Park . The LadyBugs continued their excellent hitting with Tiena Elias, Arianna Ayer-Winslow and Audrey Wismar leading the way. Jane Bacon did a fantastic job at catcher. Samantha Van Ausdle led the LadyBugs with 7 excellent plays on defense. The Green Hearts and the Red LadyBugs gave high-fives to each other after the game was over.

The pitching machine was no match against strong Jalapeno hitting, including a double by Rachel Wellman in the last inning. Solid fielding by Marisa Wood and Helen Montell-Weiland fired up the defense, with great catches by Avery Hahlweg at third and Viktoria Gilbert at first.
Tomatina Green Dragons 8 Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 11
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets continued their winning ways in this offensive slugfest against the Tomatina Green Dragons, with the lead changing hands five times over this five inning battle. The Hornets opened the scoring with 2 runs in the first on a sharp 2 RBI single from Sam Shaffer. The Dragons answered back in the second with fine hitting from Allison Cvitanovic and Lily Wilmot to plate 4. The Hornets recaptured the lead with more 3 runs in the bottom of the inning, only to be answered back by 3 runs in the top of the third from the Dragons. The Hornets tied the contest in the bottom of the inning with 2 runs of their own. The Black & Gold finally opened things up in the 4th scoring 4 big runs and never looked back as Kennedy Miller and Edyn Garvish both came through with big RBI singles while Ginny Woodworth had the game winner.

The Mahler Law Office Big Bad Bluebirds notched their first win of the season defeating the China House Golden Dragons 8-5. The game was tightly contested until the 5th inning when the Bluebirds erupted for 3 runs to help seal their first victory. Andi Wiley and Bridget Morgan lead the lively Bluebird offense with three hits each. In the bottom of the 2nd, Pitcher Janae Indalecio had a busy inning, fielding 3 consecutive ground balls, the third including a snap throw to 1st to record the final out of the inning. Sarah Mahler's bases loaded single at the top of the 5th turned out to be the game-winning RBI. Third Baseman Beatrice Levy staved off a potential Golden Dragon comeback by fielding and ground ball and tagging 3rd to record the final out of the game

Despite a great first inning and a late comeback, the La Estrellita Hot Tamales (12U) fell 10-5 to the Oakland Chili Peppers, in a mighty spicy contest. Angelica Parodi was perfect in the first, mowing down the first three batters, then a two-out, two-on triple by Christina Carmon put the Tamales ahead. But it was not to last, as the Peppers pitching pickled the Tamales...while Tamales pitching came up short. Great defense by Lexus Rawlyk and Emma Fraser kept it close, but a 3-run rally in the last inning wasn't enough.

Flawless defense was the highlight of the Shamrocks’ win Saturday at Krusi Field. Catcher Anastasia Scheichl picked a runner off first and threw out another runner stealing second. Elizabeth Ahrens combined with Michele Popelka to double off the Flames runner at second after Popelka caught a soft liner in foul territory. Christina Pena added to the defensive gem with a great catch in center field. Keilani Finley-Jensen led the offense with a triple, a double and three RBIs. Scheichl had two hits and three RBIs and Ahrens added a towering double over the left fielder’s head.

Good defense enabled the Ninjas to overcome a strong hitting Piedmont team. Maddy Gould and Mia Musso led the offense with two hits each. Danielle Taylor, Elena Kjellund Duke, and Katrina Dizon made big catches in the outfield. Katrina Dizon made a great catch at first on a low throw. Hannah Klein’s hustle held a runner to a double. The game ended on throws from Vanessa Ambrosini to Mia Musso to Jessica Ravetti who tagged the runner out at home.

Solid base hits by Allison Cvitanovic, Josie Boyd and Ella Duchesneau kept the RBIs coming.

The Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Red Hot Jalapenos made a strong offensive showing to defeat the Golden Dragons 7 - 3. Madison O'Connor started two rallies with base hits and scored two runs. Lily Walovich ripped a single and played two innings at catcher. Emani Vaughn stroked a single to drive in a run and Eileen Rhatigan had two hits. The Jalapenos also played solid defense, highlighted by a good stop and throw by Kimble Helms.
Gallagher & Lindsey – Homerun Hornets 13, Piedmont – Purple Dragons 4
The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets upped their record to 4-0 on the young season with the win over the Piedmont side. The Hornets came alive in the second scoring 4 runs. The offense was lead by Trina Eichel who had a bases clearing double in the third. She had three hits and 5 RBIs. She also had three put outs at first base. Elizabeth Fraser’s bat finally came alive as she went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Ginny Woodworth, Sam Shaffer and Vanny Mesterhazy all collected 3 hits each for the potent Hornets.

The Cycle Sports Pedal Pushers got into the win column this week with their usual great defense. Annie Kelly brought her cannon of an arm striking out 5 batters. Catching the bulk of the game was none other than Esther McCarthy. Her fearless ability behind the plate did not allow the Green Dragons many stealing opportunities. The big scoring inning came in the bottom of the 3rd when the Pedal Pushers scored 4 runs. A big thanks to our umpire Mark Dietrich for calling a great game.

The Blue Jays played tough defense, including a clutch out at home plate on a relay from "Rye Sandwich" Long to "Asil" Bertholdt to Vivienne "Sauly" Saulovich. Kennedy "Pickles" Hanson had a great inning on defense in the first, catching a fly ball and tagging a runner out at second base.

Anne Avella had a two run single with two outs in the top of the 6th inning to spark the rally. Solid pitching by Gianna Ratto, Maddy Gould, and Carrie Lee kept the Flames’ bats silent. Sydney Lewis and Angie DiDonato made stellar defensive plays to stop potential Flames’ rallies.

After two weeks off, the Shamrocks were glad to be back in action, with all players contributing. Every team member had at least one hit, with Lindsi Tu, Michelle Popelka, Erica Boeckling, Keilani Finley-Jensen and Kelly Hosakowa each collecting two hits apiece. Boeckling led the team with five RBIs. Emily Cooper gave up three runs in two innings on the mound, helping herself with two assists and three strikeouts. Hosakawa finished the game, pitching three scoreless innings, striking out six.

The Red LadyBugs and the Blue Jays were able to play 3 complete innings of softball in their second game of the season because of the excellent hitting both teams displayed. The Red LadyBugs Jane Bacon and Lucy Helms did a great job playing catcher while their teammates Samantha Van Ausdale, Audrey Wismar and Tiena Elias had excellent at bats. The Blue Jays were paced by solid hitting from Mackenzie Miller, Tiana Bullock, and Lauren Murphy. Rosie Saxton and Sarah McCarthy played amazing defense for the Jays.

Tomatina’s Green Dragons started strong in the field keeping the Sea Dragons from scoring for two innings. After a series of RBIs by the Sea Dragons, the Green Dragons rallied thanks to solid base hits by Margaret Pendo, Ianna Morris, April McCarver and Lily Wilmot. Two home runs, including a Grand Slam, by Alanna Norman brought us to within two of the Sea Dragons.

The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets continued their winning ways on this blustery morning putting up seven runs on nine hits. Elizabeth Frasier scored the first run for the Hornets, after her first hit of the young season, on a Mira Piamonte double in the fourth inning. Anna Lynch had a big hit and run scored in the fifth while Kennedy Miller and Toby Walecka each had a single, RBI and run scored for the gold and black. Kristin Sullivan had a hit and scored the lone run for the Golden Dragons.

The Golden Bats recorded their first win on Saturday at Krusi field. They took an early lead on a double by Sasita Knauer. Alanna Reyes recorded 5 strikeouts in her two strong innings on the mound. The Peddle Pushers challenged in the 4th inning but the Golden Bats were able to hold them off. Anca Hommert, Skylar Perez, and Tabitha Zaragoza recorded their first hits of the season to help the Golden Bats score runs.
Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 15, Oakland Blue Diamonds 6
The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 10U softball team beat a very good Oakland Blue Diamonds team by a score of 15-6. Sarah Charney and Mikenna Womack played solid defense in the infield, Hailey McKenna continued to sharpen her catching skills, while Abigail Keep and Rileigh Long showed keen eyes and a sharp presence at the plate.

The 6U Advanced Health Red LadyBugs played the UPS Store Wildcats to a virtual tie in their opening day game. Kayla Reyna, Tori Eichel and ViVi McKee led the Red LadyBugs hitting. All the LadyBugs scored 2 runs each. Olivia Low was a great catcher for the LadyBugs and Juliette Ingram did a fantastic job playing 1st Base. Great sportsmanship was shown by all the girls on both teams

The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets brought their bats to the field for the first of two on this glorious opening day, scoring 7 runs on 12 hits. Ginny Woodworth collected two hits, two runs scored and the win for the Hornets striking out 6. The birthday girl, Julia Mendelsohn along with Mira Piamonte and Samantha Schaffer each had two hits and two RBI to fuel the Hornets offensive explosion. Rachel Wellman had two hits and scored the lone run for the Jalapenos.

The Gallagher & Lindsey Homerun Hornets continued their offensive onslaught in the backend of Saturday’s doubleheader scoring 8 runs on 15 hits. Edyn Garvisch had a double, a home run, 3 RBI and was the winning pitcher for the Hornets in the nightcap. Christine Warren, Savannah Mesterhazy and Toby Walecka each had hits for the Hornets. Mikayla Wong had two hits and pitched two scoreless innings, striking out 6 to hold the Bluebirds in check. Mariella DeLeon broke up the no-hitter with a powerful single in the second for the Bluebirds.

Bayside Construction Blue Jays vs Green Dragons
The Bayside Specialty Construction Blue Jays 10U softball team played a tough game against the Green Dragons. The Blue Jays were anchored by solid pitching from Kelly Desmond and Vivienne Saulovich. Both pitchers struck out the side once. Kennedy Hanson threw out two runners at second base and ripped a base hit. Blue Jays, Julia Landreth and Julia Boyden had solid games as well.
Alameda Beauty College Golden Bats 15, Oakland Pink Panthers 15
The Golden Bats fought hard to stay with the Oakland Pink Panthers on Saturday at Krusi Field. They trailed 16-9 heading into the final inning. The Bats scored six runs in the final inning to tie the game, two on a triple by Dominique Shaver. Grace Oransky led the Bats from the mound, holding the Panthers scoreless in the 3rd inning, pitching three straight strikeouts. Kiara Proctor was a formidable hitter and base runner for the Golden Bats going 3-3.

Teranetics Thunderbolts vs La Estrellita Cafe Hot Tamales
In an exciting Opening Day game betweeen the two 12U AGSA teams, La Estrellita Cafe Hot Tamales held off the Teranetics Thunderbolts 11-8. The Thunderbolts scored 4 runs in each of the first two innings, highlighted by the two stolen bases each from Dominique Barrs and Rachel Reising. Rookie Danielle McEarchern had some great fielding at 2nd base, and Danielle McCarthy worked the last two innings with some aggressive play at catcher.

Alameda Towne Centre Ninjas vs Piedmont
The Ninja's opened the season with an exciting 13-9 win over Piedmont. Timely hitting was the key as the Ninja's scored four runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Erika Boeckling, Gianna Ratto, and Sydney Louis rocked consecutive hits in the 2nd. Vanessa Ambrosini, Carrie Lee, and Mia Musso each doubled and scored in the 3rd. Ninja pitcher Maddy Gould hurled two innings of shutout ball, striking out the side in the 5th to secure the win.

Pitching was the difference in the second half of the double header as the Ninja's shutout Alameda #2 (green jerseys), 3-0. Maddie Gould and Carrie Lee were flawless on the hill, working fast, combining to strike out 10 (green) hitters. Elena Kjelland-Duke, singled and scored; Erika Boekling tripled and scored; and Katrina Dizon walked and scored to complete the scoring for the 2 and OH Ninja's!
