Fun Ball Recap
Meeting started with Ken thanking everyone for their help with Fun Ball. The clinics went well. Brief discussion on Chelseas performance at the clinics. Ideas were thrown around for next year; possibly only using Chelsea to run general clinics for 10U and upper divisions. Sharon could possibly run general clinics for the 6U and 8U divisions.
Need to get all coaches synchronized with coaching techniques. Need to hold a standardized hitting clinic with Chelsea on January 27, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 and making it mandatory attendance.
During Fun Ball we received two new registrations, two returning, and nineteen new girls to Fun Ball but not registered yet for Spring.
Registration postcards went out to veteran players. Flyers will go out to schools next week. Philly will check with the private schools about distributing registration flyers.
Talk about making “new players” from Fun Ball their own league in Sportability for categorizing purposes.
5013C
Ken will contact the appropriate Board of Director members to sign the documents next week. When they are completed the Board will give Sean Rhatigan and his secretary a gift.
Website
Sharon reported it should take half the time to complete now that the template is done. Sharon will contact Jenna @ ThirdBase.Com to start finalizing the website. Explore the idea of a “parent handbook” before inputting all information on the website.
Discussion on different links on the website for example, coaches contact information, teams and their names, sponsor information and links to the sponsors website. Sharon will add more content as discussed at meeting.
Registration Banner
Tom will talk to Alameda Park and Recreation about placing a banner about registration on the fence at Krusi on Otis Street side for advertising and will also look into cost of banner.
Anne will look into ad space for registration in the Alameda Journal and the Time Star. Run two ads in December and two ads in January.
Umpire
Phil spoke with Frank briefly about umpiring inter league 12U and 14U games for outside umpires. Will follow up.
ASA certification class
Dani will contact John Gouveia on whether ASA will be required for all coaches.
Interleague
Ken and Tom attended the inter league meeting on October. Oakland and Piedmont were also there. Items discussed were as follows:
10U- sticking with stealing when ball is in the vicinity of the plate instead of when it it leaving the pitchers hand.
8U-using pitching machine for first half of season in inter league games/four pitches only to cut down on the time of the games. We will pitch in intra league games. Second half of season go to live pitching in inter league games.
Louisville Ultimate Slugger machines are $200.00 each and we will order four.
Very long discussion on 12U and 14U rec. season. Possibly combine 12U's with the 14U's to keep a 14U division in all inter leagues. We will check numbers after evaluations. AGSA policy is players are allowed to be evaluated to "play up" but needs to be messaged properly.
Equipment
Jay will organize and check out all current equipment and order new equipment as needed. Ken and Tom will help. We will buy a couple of pop up bases. Tom will think about pitching plates. Look into purchasing a small quad for dragging the fields.
Shed
Tom went to the planning department. Need to put a slab in first for shed due to earth quake reasons.
B.O.D. Positions:
Snack Bar - Dottie
Dottie will havefirst aid kits ready for Jay to put in equipment bags by January.
Meeting adjourned: 22:00
